More skulls

Thanks Louise for your assistance with the skull identification. I take photos of everything I come across and sometimes they happen to be species outside my speciality. But how did this buffalo skull at Mathews range end up with a new body! I just liked the image.

There is a fossilized remains of an elephant skull at Marti which residents claim has turned into a rock. Does that interest you? I could get speceimens next month, for free!

Thanks Mwenja- for the info on the fossil locality. As with all fossils they are best left in context until they are collected by an expert who can interpret their geological association, which helps in dating. Fossil collection requires permits and a complex proceedure to record all sorts of information. Also many fossils require some preservation with hardeners before being lifted and often need to be covered in a plaster jacket to make sure they are carried safely. However photographs of the fossils as they are in the ground would be interesting to see certainly. But take care not to tread on them or damage them, they are very delicate! Also any time if you have an identification query I would be happy to help. Lovely picture of the buffalo, indeed.
